Essay Evaluation

In the book I am reading The Absolutely True Diary Of a Part-Time Indian. by Sherman Alexie. Is about a boy named Junior who lives on a reservation and has a friend named Rowdy. Then Junior starts going through a lot of pain and heartache. His grandma dies, he loses his friendship with Rowdy. Then he realizes how to look at things in a different way, and learns how to cope with the bad things in his life.

Junior's friendship between him and Rowdy is really difficult to understand. Him and Rowdy are best friends but Rowdy likes to pick on Junior, and beat him up a lot. Then the next minute Rowdy likes to talk to Junior, and be around him and stick up for him when Junior is getting picked on.

Rowdy's life is really complicated because his home life. His dad is a huge drinker and beats Rowdy, so Rowdy has to beat up on Junior. I don't think Rowdy likes beating up Junior. I think Junior is there for Rowdy to change his ways and make him see how to be a good friend and not be a bully.

Junior has gone through a lot with his friendship with Rowdy and he had to deal with a lot of other things when he was a kid. He had to deal with his dad drinking when he was little. It was really hard for Junior to cope with the fact that his father was a major drinker. So Junior figured that alcoholism is extremely bad because it causes death and pain.

Most of the time Junior dealt with friendships, deaths, and heartaches. He had to deal with his grandma dying, losing Rowdy as a friend, then losing his dads friend Eugene which was like an uncle to Junior. He really hated the fact that he lost Rowdy as a best friend, but people change and grow apart from each other no matter how long they have been friends.

Through the long run of Junior's life he has dealt with a lot of pain and anguish. I think he shows a good way of coping with everything that has happened to him. He deals with those things by looking at life in a different way, by making new friends, and getting a semi-girlfriend. His new friend is Gordy, and his semi-girlfriend is Penelope. She is there to help Junior, and Junior is there to help Penelope. Penelope and Gordy are Junior's true friends they look out for Junior and guide him through school, and show him how to fit in.
