Fighting for something important

I think Kit should fight to keep her school job with her cousin Mercy. She has another reason to fight for the job because it would really help out her aunt and uncle with their house. It would help Rachel, and Matthew because she is making wages, and she could give them the money for the things they need. It is a really great job opportunity to sharpen her skills and experience that she could use by teaching young children.

Letter to a friend

Dear Jessica,
Connecticut is very different from Barbados. It has different standards and rules that people have to follow. The weather is a lot different from Barbados's weather. It gets very cold here, and always has gray skies. The people go to church twice in one day. I live with my aunt and uncle who's names are Rachel and Matthew. Aunt Rachel is very kind and outgoing, and Uncle Matthew is mean and strict. Most of all my cousin's are very well mannered and listen to their father's orders. My first cousin Judith is more friendly to me, but at first she was jealous of me and the clothes I wore. My other cousin Mercy is disabled. She uses a crutch to get around places. Sometimes I really do miss Barbados and the memories I had there.

disappointed by something/or someone

The thing or person that disappoints me the most is my mother. She is always getting on my case about every little thing I do or say. We are always fighting and yelling at each other, and she keeps giving me chores to do around the house. Even though I do them she still yells at me for no reason. It seems like ever since I turned eighteen she doesn't respect me anymore, and she's always keeping me locked in my house. I feel like I don't have my own life and that really disappoints me a lot.

What I did over Spring Break

I went to the coast with my cousin, but I was supposed to go with both of them. My cousin Jamie got pneumonia so I had to go with my other cousin Amber it was still fun. We mostly stayed in the hotel room and watched movies. Then the rest of my spring break I hung out downtown with my friends and my boyfriend. Then the last part of my break I stayed home and worked on my packets, and studied up on them.

Spring Break/ Keeping my reading levels up!!!!

This spring break I am going to the coast with my cousins. They have a small beach house that we are staying at for a few days. Then the rest of my break I am going to find some parties to go to and party it up. Then for some other parts of the break I am going to be reading a lot and studying up on my packets that I have been working on.

Appropriate Choices

I think that Kit made the right decision when she saved the little girl's doll. She should not have to change her ways to make other people like her. She should start thinking twice before she does something wrong again. I think that Kit does not seem like a person that would keep making wrong decisions, but things could change throughout her time in America.

Uncle Matthew

Kit's Uncle Matthew is a very hard working man. He doesn't seem like a very kind man. He works during the day, and expects his daughters to do their chores before he gets home. It didn't seem like he was very excited when Kit showed up at his door. The thing that makes him seem like an angry guy is when Kit gave his two daughters the dresses. He lashed out at Kit and told her that things were going to change, and that she couldn't have her fancy clothes in his house. That's why I really don't think Uncle Matthew sounds like a nice guy.

If I were in Kit's shoes

So could you imagine being in someone else's shoes? Well imagine being in Kit Tyler's shoes. She lived in a place called Barbados where it is warm and sunny everyday. Then she decided to go to America to find her aunt and uncle. Well when she found them they were astonished at the sight of Kit being at their front door. Now that she lives in Connecticut she has to follow new rules and listen to her aunt and uncle. If I was in Kit's shoes I would hate to leave my home, and move to a totally different place and not know anybody in the town. So, yeah it was a good idea for Kit to move, but it was also a bad idea because she is so new to America, and the rules that she has to abide by.

The Witch of BlackBird Pond

The Witch of BlackBird Pond is a book about a girl named Kit who moves from Barbados to America in 1687. Her grandfather has died and she is going to live with her aunt. The town she moves to is full of Puritans who are much more religious than she is. She is constantly doing things that make her look strange to the people in America because her culture in Barbados is so different.

This weekend

My weekend is going to be somewhat fun. I am going to hang out with my friends all day after school. Then on Friday I am going to the coast with my parents and my boyfriend. We are going there just for the day to look at the antique stores and walk on the beach. Then on Saturday and Sunday are my lazy days to sleep in and catch up on my sleep.

Kit Tyler

Kit came from a rich family. She lived in Barbados with her grandparents. Kit is a very caring person. She likes to help people. She helped the little girl on the boat by jumping in the water and retrieved the doll. She doesn't really care for the sight of America so the people look down on her, and probably think that makes her judgemental. She is different from people because she can swim and the people in Connecticut can't. The townsfolk think she is strange or something because she knows how to swim so her friend Nat tells her about the witch test and she looks at him like he is out of his mind, so we know she is quick tempered.

The witch Of BlackBird Pond

The setting of the book is in mid-April 1687. The brigantine Dolphin sailed out to sea it sailed out to the Connecticut  River, and into the Saybrook harbor. At first she didn't really care for the sight of America. Where she was living it was warm and sunny. In America it is a gray and dishearting contrast to the shimmering green.

About the Puritans

The Puritans who came to America wanted to worship God the way they believed. They did that by reading the bible. The Puritans also believed that the devil walked among them, and that idleness came from the devil, and the witches did the devils work. Hard work was something they thought was important.
